When is Spooky Brainstorming Bingo Happening?

October 18 at 12 PM ET, 9 AM PT, 5 pm UK. If you can’t make it live, a replay will be available. Everyone who signs up gets two bingo cards! One of which is filled with 24 prompts; the other, which was created due to popular demand, is decorated so you can make a bingo card of your own.

At any given time, I’m thinking of five things. Not all at once, but in short bursts. I think of going to the fridge, because I need a glass of milk. Wouldn’t the milk be great with some cookies? Then, I’ll ponder what else I need to do for the day. Boom! Inspiration will strike, and I’ll get the best idea for a story. I dream up two Easter eggs to drop into my other works. The perfect sentence comes along.

Mind you, I’m not at my computer yet. I am standing at the fridge, wondering what I am supposed to get.

Which is why I created Organized Chaos. I will never be the girl with the neatly outlined notebook, color-coded, in order, with a completed outline. I am the girl with a million ideas and scattered thoughts, who feels stifled by traditional writing guides. Nonetheless, I need my chaos organized, hence the title.

What is Organized Chaos?

It’s a workshop and writing guide (guided PDF) that comes with an accountability buddy! The full title is Organized Chaos: Mindset Reset and Writing Guide.

The purpose of the guide is to get you into the right frame of mind (motivated and open to possibilities) and help you plot and organize your stories. There’s space for all the pieces that make up a stellar story, like Easter eggs, intriguing plots, and endearing character traits. Plus, there are spaces for newsletter and article ideas, because the goal is to have all your ideas in one place. This guide works whether you're writing scripts, novels, short stories, or non-fiction pieces (creative non-fiction, a book of essays, etc.).

What Inspired the Creation of Brainstorming Bingo?

During the summer of 2016, I was stuck. I wanted to write two short stories for the Campfire Stories anthology, but pulling an idea from thin air proved to be taxing. I got it done and have two lovely stories to show for it, but it was a struggle.

Later, I realized there are many ways to bring a story to life. I also learned what sorts of prompts worked for me. The answer: prompts with some heft. Prompts that involved only one word or some vague concept, like the importance of nature, never ignited my creativity.

Fast-forward to 2025.

I wanted to make writing fun and accessible, so I built the course: Everything You Need to Know About Writing Short Stories. It’s a comprehensive course with 22 sections, but I wanted to offer something bite-sized to my fellow writers. Something where students could get an idea of my teaching style while gaining valuable information and having a good time.

Then, it hit me: Brainstorming Bingo! I had attended a marketing bingo workshop shortly before, and realized this concept would be great for fiction writers and brainstorming. Before I knew it, I was creating a customized bingo card and putting together this workshop.
