What is The Author Diary?
This tier is for the readers who like the stories behind the stories.
This will be a deep dive into my process, writing life, inspirations, and snippets of works-in-progress. So, basically, a more in-depth version of what you see here. The differences are that I will talk more about what’s happening as it is happening—like when a new idea takes flight or the insight into the theme that came to me at 4 AM. You’ll get to see actual first draft material. Plus, you’ll get juicy writer gossip (about characters, how they came to be—this is a good reminder to never make a writer mad … or even happy—the creative process, and pop culture inspirations).
My favorite part of this is the Out-of-Context pieces. You’ll see the original material, but only a paragraph most times (so the endings aren’t spoiled for you). Any spoilers will be clearly marked and therefore, easily avoided.
Why Did I Create This Series?
The paid tier of this newsletter has had no additional content since I started almost two years ago. I wanted to give the generous people who subscribed to that section something special, so I dreamed up The Author Diary.
I thought it would be tons of fun because I love learning that a fellow writer was inspired by their third cousin’s wedding and the outrageous date they brought. I’m a very nosy person! I once edited a story with a secret and we never found out what it was! You’ll never have to wonder with this tier.
What Does It Mean for the Newsletter?
Don’t worry. All subscribers (including free ones) are appreciated. You will still get free content on Fridays. Nothing is being taken away. There will be additional tidbits here and there for paid subscribers. Think of it as director’s commentary. It doesn’t take away from those who watched the movie, but it adds a little extra for the people who want to know what the director was thinking.
How Much is the Paid Tier?
Only $7 a month, so about the cost of a cup of coffee.
Or you could pay even less per month with the annual plan. It’s only $70 dollars per year—that’s two free months!

What Does a Deep Dive Look Like
One post will be an alternative ending to the short story Maddox, why I changed it, and how American Horror Story plays into it. And some thoughts on endings.
Another episode will have snippets from the original All Hail Hallowmas, how I’ve changed it, and why.
You’ll learn the familial relationship that inspired the short story, Chipped (from Tumultuous Twenties).
This early in the process, it’ll be nice to see what readers think of my future plans.
Keep in mind, with your input and the artist life (a life that is always delayed/behind/chaotic), early plans are just that … plans. That’s why I didn’t post a lot of this stuff in the past—it’s always changing. But now, you’ll get to see what changes, why it changes, and even when it changes before anyone else.
Basically, this is your front row seat to the messy pieces of this author’s life.
Some of these pieces will be in the Friday post. Others will be sent separately. I want this to feel organic, so there is no schedule. Just whatever feels natural to add.
This will give you a better look into upcoming collections and novellas without spoiling the fun of reading the stories when they’re released.
